About Goal Tracker
Set goals with a target you can measure and record progress against them over time.
The single largest determinant of whether a goal is achieved is whether it is measurable. 'Get fitter' cannot be tracked, cannot tell you whether you are on course, and cannot be completed โ so it stays open indefinitely. 'Run 5km without stopping by 30 September' can be checked at any point. Vagueness is why most goals quietly disappear rather than being abandoned.
Tracking progress rather than only the outcome matters because the outcome usually arrives long after the effort. A goal that can only be evaluated at the end offers no feedback in between, and the middle is precisely where motivation fades. Recording partial progress gives you evidence that effort is producing movement.
Set fewer goals than feels natural. Attention is the binding constraint, not intention โ five simultaneous goals typically means five neglected ones, while two get done. Finish before adding more.
How to use Goal Tracker
- Add a goal with a measurable target and a date.
- Record progress as you make it.
- Review regularly, and adjust the target rather than abandoning it if it proves unrealistic.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a goal trackable?
A number and a date. 'Get fitter' cannot be measured or completed; 'run 5km without stopping by 30 September' can be checked at any point. Vagueness is the main reason goals quietly disappear.
How many goals should I track at once?
Fewer than feels natural โ two or three. Attention is the limit rather than intention, and five simultaneous goals usually means five neglected ones.
What if a target turns out to be unrealistic?
Adjust it rather than abandoning it. A revised target you continue working toward is worth considerably more than an ambitious one you stopped tracking.
Is my data stored anywhere else?
No. Goals and progress are kept in your browser on this device and never uploaded.
