About Social Image Resizer

Resize an image to the exact dimensions a platform expects, so it is not cropped automatically on upload.

Every platform expects something different and crops without asking when the ratio does not match. Instagram feed posts are 1080x1080 square or 1080x1350 portrait; stories and reels are 1080x1920. YouTube thumbnails are 1280x720. A LinkedIn banner is 1584x396, and Facebook cover images differ again. Uploading the wrong ratio means the platform decides what to discard, usually by taking the centre โ€” frequently through the subject or the text.

The safest habit is to design with the crop in mind rather than only the final size. Several platforms display a different crop in the feed than on the post page, and profile images are shown as circles on some surfaces and squares on others. Keeping important content away from the edges means it survives whichever crop is applied.

Resizing here happens in your browser via the Canvas API, so nothing is uploaded. Note that enlarging a small image cannot add detail that was never captured โ€” scaling up produces a soft result, so always start from the largest original you have.

How to use Social Image Resizer

  1. Open your image and choose the target platform and placement.
  2. Adjust the crop so important content stays clear of the edges.
  3. Download the correctly sized image.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an Instagram post be?

1080x1080 for square feed posts, 1080x1350 for portrait, and 1080x1920 for stories and reels. Portrait occupies more vertical space in the feed, which is why many accounts prefer it.

Why does the platform still crop my image?

Because several platforms show a different crop in the feed than on the post page, and profile images may be circular on some surfaces. Keep important content away from the edges so it survives any crop.

Can I enlarge a small image to fit?

You can resize it, but detail that was never captured cannot be added โ€” scaling up produces a soft, blurry result. Always start from the largest original you have.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing runs entirely in your browser, so images never leave your device.
